This quilt used a serious of photos of earth taken from on board the international space station looking out a little portal window. They were printed out using some special pixel software that was being sold by a vendor at the show. This quilt was an example of the kind of thing that could be done with the software.
This quilt was called something like Sky and Grass. Just a simple 9-patch. I like simple.
The colors were really pretty on this medallion.
I've been wanting to attempt a landscape quilt. This is exactly what I would be able to do... in my dreams. So beautiful.
This quilt had a big explination about digging deep within yourself to find the solution to your problems and you could survive in any situation, yadda, yadda, yadda... I just liked the literal ecological theme.
This was my personal vote for the viewers choice. I liked the vortex idea that was reinforced by the spiral quilting pattern. I thought it was very creative and beautiful. It wasn't the most stunning one at the show, and I knew it had no chance of winning the competition. But it was one that really made me stop and examine it so I thought it at least deserved a vote.
This quilt had a black tulle layered on the top before quilting. I thought that was such a great idea. But then I saw several other quilts, not fish/ocean themed that did the same thing. So I guess that's a trend or technique I just hadn't heard of yet...?
